With the help of the great goaltender Kari Lehtonen, and Mrian Hossa, Illya Kovalchuk the Atlanta Thrashers managed to score their first victory during the playoff and later won the Southeast Division which meant that they claimed the #3 seed as well as the home ice advantage during their first round of playoffs.
