Carolina Hurricanes Tickets
The Carolina Hurricanes are a professional American ice hockey team located in Raleigh, North Carolina. They are members of both the National Hockey League and the Eastern conference. Their home games are played at the RBC Center which has a capacity of 18,680 seats. The team was originally formed in 1971 and were called the New England Whalers and belonged to the World Hockey Association. Later they moved to the NHL in 1979 and were called the Hartford Whalers. In 1997 they relocated to North Carolina where they were called the Carolina Hurricanes. The team has done a lot of moving and they still continue being a professional and good team winning their first Stanley Cup during the 2005-06 season by beating the Edmonton Oilers from Canada by winning four games out of three.
When The Carolina Hurricanes originally relocated to North Carolina they found it increasingly difficult to adjust to the new changed financial environment. This was probably because Hartford was just a small if not the smallest U.S. market in the NHL. Later Peter Karmanos the owner of the whalers announced in 1997 that the team was to move elsewhere after the 1996-97 season was done with because the team was not able to negotiate a good construction and leasing package for a new state of the art arena located in Hartford. Later in July of that year Peter Parmanos announced that the Whalers were to move over to the Research Triangle area of North Carolina and their home would be the latest Entertainment and Spots Arena constructed in Raleigh. It is here that the team became the Carolina Hurricanes. They also changed their team colors to black and red. The time frame was short so Karmanos thought of the name himself instead of holding a poll.
After the original slow start for the team for the 2008-09 season the coach Peter Laviolette was fired even though he helped coach the team that won the Stanley Cup. He was replaced by his predecessor Paul Maurice. Later on February 7th the Carolina Hurrianes brought Jussi Jokienen onboard from Tampa Bay lightning which was in exchange for Josef Melichar and Wade Brookbank. The Team later into a stretch run which included nine wins in a row which matched the franchise record of 2005-06 and also capped off 12 home wins in a row. This set a new mark for the franchise which was previously ailing. In the eastern conference the team managed to finish with 97 points which is known as the send most points in the franchise history. This earned them the first match with the New Jersey devils for the first round.
There some very important games coming up in 2009-10 season of the NHL. One of the most being between the Carolina Hurricanes and the New Jersey Devils on the 17th of October 2009. This is going to be a big one for the Carolina Hurricanes as they are facing a stiff opponent. Prior to that on the 10th of October they will be facing the Tampa Bay Lightning.
