The Green Bay Packers did not end the regular season 16-0, but going 15-1 is not nearly that bad. It still gave them the best record in the NFL and the top seed in the NFC. The offense is still the highest scoring in the league, averaging 35 points a game. Green Bay allows 22.4 points a game, so they were winning game by almost two touchdowns.

The Packers-Giants game back in Week 13 did end in a Packers victory, but was not nearly that easy. The game went to overtime at 35-35 after Manning hit Hakeem Nicks in the end zone with less than a minute left in the fourth quarter. Mason Crosby came through in the end with a 31-yard field goal.

The Green Bay Packers have been playing since 1919, when they first took the field as the Indiana Packers. This is one of the most successful franchises in NFL history, winning 13 championships. Nine of those came before the Super Bowl, two came when the NFL winner met the AFL winner, and two came after the leagues merged.

The Packers early heroes include head coach Vince Lombardi, quarterback Bart Starr, receiver Don Hutson, fullback Jim Taylor, and running back Paul Hornung. The Packers teams of the 1960s won five of six NFL Championships and the first two Super Bowls. That dominance would establish a unique level of dominance for such a small market.

This is not to say the Packers would go without their periods of struggle in the modern era of football.
