Criss Angel is the magician for the 21st century. Really, this is not an empty statement conceived by a public relations guru who feels the world of illusion lacks that edgy guy. This is not about market segments. This is the truth. He made the entertainment of the illusion in the new century something more than a pointless world of endurance tests in clocks of ice or in towers in New York. He made it cool again, much cooler than David Copperfield did two decades earlier. Criss Angel tickets are Vegas seats to the Luxor Theater for his collaboration with Cirque du Soleil, a show to be believed.
Believe is a retooled show. The first attempt at combining the world of the contemporary circus troupe and the world of magic did not end well. Instead of the typical host of rave reviews, critics found the show a bit too distracting. This seems a little ironic, as magicians rely on sleight of hand. But, it turns out magicians’ tricks are only unbelievable if they are given a bit more attention before the big reveal.
Well, the revamp is a huge hit and this time it has the support of the critics. Angel has brought his tricks to the forefront, with the Cirque elements firmly entrenched in the background. The show still has the gothic architecture and dark lighting and has retained the services of the assistants, Maestro, Luigi, Slim, and Lars. These are bumbling clowns acting as ushers and ultimately setting Criss Angel up for jabs of dark humor and the illusions themselves.
The Luxor is glad to have Criss Angel Believe on its main stage, where it plays Tuesday through Saturday at 7 p.m. each night and the second show on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, when it closes the night at 9:30 p.m. This show, now reformulated to be light on filler, has made Vegas Criss Angel tickets the best seller it was always supposed to be. Now, once Believe ends its run this illusionist is not going to be leaving Vegas any time soon. Sin City is his home and he will always find a resort more than happy to give him a major theater.
