The Yellow Jackets are the intercollegiate athletic teams in the Georgia Institute of Technology. The teams comprise of eight men's and seven women's programs that compete in the NCAA Division I. All the teams are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Georgia University of Technology is located in Atlanta and was established on October 31, 1885.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team was founded in the year 1892 and they debuted with their first ever game in the year 1893 against the Georgia Bulldogs of the University of Georgia. The team has an all-time record of 649–436–43 or a wining percentage of 0.594. Some of the notable players of the team include Joe Hamilton, Joe Guyon, Billy Shaw and Calvin Johnson. The team has been a well-known one because of its notable coach, John Heisman, for whom the Heisman trophy is named. He happened to be the first professional coach of the team. Paul Johnson currently coaches the Yellow Jackets. He was announced as the new coach of the team on December 7, 2007.

The Bobby Dodd Stadium is home to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team. The stadium is located at the Historic Grant Field on the campus of the Georgia University of Technology. It was named after the university's legendary football coach, Bobby Dodd. The arena was inaugurated in the year 1913. It has a seating capacity for 55,000 spectators.
