A View From the Bridge tickets are available for the exploration of the destructive force of unrelenting, and inappropriate lust can bring to a family. The Carbone’s live in a small neighborhood seemingly closed off from the rest of New York City underneath the Brooklyn Bridge in this Arthur Miller treatment. The Polis is a place for Italian families, oftentimes harboring illegal immigrants from their homeland. The police are shunned and the old world ways are rule here.

Eddie is the breadwinner of the family, a longshoreman who tries to do the right thing to support his family and help other relatives who are looking for a chance at the American Dream. Long ago he took in the orphaned niece from his wife Beatrice’s side of the family. Catherine has graduated high school and is working as a stenographer, but Eddie is haunted by a burgeoning sexual desire for his young niece.

Eddie suffers through the first part of the play, denying his incestuous desire in A View From the Bridge. Then he takes in two more of his wife’s cousins, two brothers Marco and Rodolpho. Marco is there to make money to send back home. He has no desire to stay. Rodolpho is younger and handsome. He immediately draws the affection of Catherine. Eddie is torn by his newfound jealousies, attacking Rodolpho for his feminine tendencies like dress making and singing and eventually is pushed over the edge when he finds the Catherine and Rodolpho in bed together having sex.

A View From the Bridge takes a turn for the worse as Eddie breaks the most sacred of laws in Polis, he calls the Immigration Bureau to turn Rodolpho and Marco in. In the end, Eddie has hit such a bottom that he attacks Marco only to have the stronger, younger man overpower him, killing Eddie.

The most recent revival of this 1956 classic two-act play is set to begin preview performances on December 28, 2009 at the Cort Theatre before officially opening on January 24, 2010 for a limited 14-week run. A View From the Bridge tickets will surely sell not only for the celebration of Miller’s work, but also for the Broadway debut of Scarlett Johansson, who has been relishing the role of Catherine since she was penciled in to portray the teenage girl in a 2006 movie adaptation that never came to be.
