Burn the Floor guides audiences on a voyage through the passion and drama of everything which is dance. From Harlem's steamy evenings at The Savoy where dances such as the Lindy, Foxtrot, and Charleston were born, to the Latin Quarter where the Cha-Cha, Rumba, and Salsa heated up the stage, Burn the Floor is ballroom dance with a sexy twenty-first century tone.

There is no story here. Burn the Floor is nonstop dance, with ten couples performing every dance which is included in international ballroom competition – Waltz, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Cha-Cha, Samba, Paso Doble, Rumba and Jive, in addition to variations such as Swing dancing and the Lindy.

As the world-class dance artists perform lifts, elaborate footwork, and thrilling group dances by choreographer and former world champ Jason Gilkison, Burn the Floor is filled with moments that will leave patrons asking themselves “How did they do that?” The action is nonstop throughout the show’s 25 numbers, most of which are also accompanied by a lively duo of singers and an onstage quartet, in addition to others with recorded music. The show is divided into two acts that loosely progress from classic to contemporary dance, but viewers will probably be much too caught up in the amazing dancers strutting their stuff to glance down at their programs. If you feel that pure dancing has lost its place on Broadway, then Burn the Floor is the show for you!

Fans of Dancing with the Stars also have good reason to see Burn the Floor, or see it again; popular DWTS pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kym Johnson will be joining the cast on November 27th. Maks appeared in the first three weeks of the Broadway run, including opening night, while originally partnered with Karina Smirnoff, and Johnson will make her Broadway debut after having been an original cast member of Burn the Floor in 1999.

While there may be sexy undertones and plenty of skimpy costumes in the show, Burn the Floor is basically fine for children, especially if they have already shown enthusiasm by watching the ballroom-based reality television series Dancing with the Stars.

The Broadway production has already been extended twice and is currently scheduled to run through January 10, 2010, at the Longacre Theatre in New York. Get your tickets now and bring all the dancers in the family to enjoy Burn the Floor, especially those fans of Maks, Kym, and Dancing with the Stars.
