Gypsy

Gypsy is a wonderful musical based on a book by Arthur Laurents. The fantastic musical is based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee. The story is about the dreams of a woman in show business trying to raise two daughters. The daughters are taught to perform onstage and it shows the pitfalls of the life of someone in show business.

The main songs that are showcased in the musical are “Everythings Coming up Roses” and “Small World.”

Some people say that Gypsy is the greatest American musical! There has been numerous stage productions in the last 40 years. All of the shows have the same story but have plenty of different fantastic casts.

The latest revival is being put on by Encores Production and is at the St. James Theater and starts March 3, 2008. Patti LuPone is going to play Rose and is already getting fantastic reviews!
