Jersey Boys Tickets
The award winning Jersey Boys is a documentary-style story of how Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons made the transition from unknown New Jersey kids to world renown pop superstars, and features over 30 beautifully performed songs, including Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, and Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, to name a few.
Jersey Boys is a glimpse at the people behind a sound that has managed to endure for over four decades in the hearts of the public. The musical first opened on Broadway in 2005, and has since had a North American National tour, in addition to productions in the West End and Melbourne. In 2006 Jersey Boys also won four Tony Awards – Best Musical, Best Actor for John Lloyd Young, Best Featured Actor for Christian Hoff, and Best Lighting Design.
This musical biography of the Four Seasons covers everything – the group’s rise, the rough times and personal battles, and the ultimate triumph of a group of friends whose music became representative of a generation. Far removed from a simple tribute concert, although it does include many popular tunes from their song book, Jersey Boys gets to the heart of the relationships at the foundation of the group, while placing special focus on frontman Frankie Valli, the little kid with the big falsetto voice. In addition to following the quartet’s evolution as performers, Jersey Boys also centers around the members’ allegiance to a code of New Jersey street honor which helped them survive numerous real life challenges, such as gambling debts, Mafia threats, and personal family disasters.
Upbeat, stylishly produced, and fast-paced, Jersey Boys appeals not only to diehard fans of the Four Seasons, but also to those less familiar with the group’s extensive catalogue of hits. This is primarily due to the fact that, unlike most jukebox musicals, this show places a heavy emphasis on telling a story, thus providing a universal appeal.
Although Jersey Boys moves along at a pace which may be easy for younger audiences to follow, it is not really a show for young children; they will not appreciate the heavy nostalgia factor, while parents may would probably find themselves cringing at the sexual innuendo, infidelity, the death of a child (offstage), enough profanity to make a Jersey Turnpike truck driver blush, and other common types of behavior one would expect to see from four tough guys as they travel on tour from sold-out performance to sold-out performance.
Maybe you are lifelong fans of The Four Seasons. Maybe you have no idea who the Four Seasons are, but just enjoy great music and a good success story. Either way, this may just be the show for you, so get your tickets now and go see Jersey Boys on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre in New York.
