Jersey Boys Tickets
Jersey Boys provides a glimpse at the guys responsible for the lingering sound that has managed to endure in the hearts of listeners for over four decades. This award-winning musical production is a documentary of sorts, telling how Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons evolved from a bunch of unknown New Jersey kids to world-famous pop superstars, while showcasing more than thirty beautifully performed songs, including all-time favorites Big Girls Don’t Cry, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, and Sherry, to mention a few.
Jersey Boys debuted on Broadway in 2005, followed by a North American national tour, in addition to productions in the West End and Melbourne. Jersey Boys also won four 2006 Tony Awards – Best Musical, Best Actor for John Lloyd Young, Best Featured Actor for Christian Hoff, and Best Lighting Design.
This musical biography of The Four Seasons covers everything from their rise to fame to the tough times and personal battles, resulting with the ultimate victory of a group of normal guys whose music seemed to define their generation. Although it does include many popular tunes from the group’s song book, Jersey Boys is not just a simple tribute concert; it gets to the heart of the relationships at the center of the quartet, while placing a larger spotlight on singer Frankie Valli, the little kid with the big falsetto voice. In addition to following the group’s increasing popularity as performers, Jersey Boys also focuses on their allegiance to the honor code of the streets which helped them survive numerous real life challenges in New Jersey, such as gambling debts, Mafia threats, and personal family disasters.
Fast-paced and upbeat, Jersey Boys not only appeals to diehard fans of The Four Seasons, but also those maybe less familiar with their huge catalogue of popular hits. This can be explained by the fact that, unlike typical jukebox musicals, this one places a heavy emphasis on telling a story, thus providing its universal appeal.
While Jersey Boys moves along at a rate which may allow for younger viewers to follow, it is actually probably not a show for children, as youngsters will most likely not appreciate the heavy nostalgic theme, while parents may shudder at the sexual innuendo, infidelity, the death of a child, enough profanity to make a truck driver cringe, and other common types of behavior one may expect to witness if they were on tour with four tough guys traveling from one sold-out show to the next.
Maybe you are someone who has loved The Four Seasons for more than forty years, or maybe you have never heard of The Four Seasons. Either way, if you are a person who enjoys great music and a great success story, this may very well be the perfect show for you. If so, get your tickets now and go see Jersey Boys on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre in New York, or at the Prince Edward Theatre if you happen to be looking for a great show to attend in London.
