Present Laughter Tickets
Present Laughter is the hilarious comedy from Noel Coward that tells his slightly altered account of his own dealings with sex and his relationship with friends as star in the 1930s. This light comedy chases Gerry Essendine around his flat with a couple of women trying (successfully) to seduce him and a crazed young playwright who has developed an obsession with him.
Gerry lets the cards fall where they may, flustered and exhausted from a lifetime of these meetings. His close-knit group of friends and co-workers, including his ex-wife Liz, his manager Morris, and his producer Hugo, try and shuffle him through each impending situation, but as in light comedies, their efforts are futile. At the end of the third act it becomes apparent to Liz that the only way to save Gerry from the throngs of women is to enter his life romantically again.
