Rev Run and DMC are music legends as the surviving member of Run DMC (Jam-Master Jay was gunned down in 2002) and the two have been in meetings with the producer of the box office hit Mission Impossible to create a Run DMC Musical to produce on Broadway. Run DMC Musical tickets would surely attract a whole new audience to an entertainment industry dying for attention. The hip hop pioneers have been attending Broadway shows to get a grasp of the new creative direction.

The assumption has to be that the Run DMC musical would be a jukebox musical like Jersey Boys, chronicling the rise of the unlikely trio from the Queens neighborhood of Hollis to international fame. There are plenty of relevant periphery characters like Rev Run’s older brother, hip hop music mogul Russell Simmons.

Little is known for sure right now, but the talks with movie producer Paula Wagner are apparently serious. So far, none of those involved have any theater experience, but Run DMC played on stages from 1983 to 2002, so the transition should not be too difficult for one of the most influential music groups of all time.
