The Bank Atlantic Center is very famous indoor arena that is located in Sunrise, Florida, which is a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The arena was built in the year 1998 at an approximate cost of $185 million. It was entirely financed by the local public of the city and includes 70 suites as well as 2,300 club seats to add to the charm. The amazing thing is that earlier the Center was known as the Broward County Civic Arena, National Car Rental Center and Office Depot Center
It was in the year 1993, when H. Wayne Huizenga got the new franchise for the Florida Panthers Hockey Team, and an entirely new search to have a new arena began in the city. The search soon became a fast track development venture when when the site in Sunrise, Florida was selected to solve the purpose. It all happened in June, in the year 1996. Alex Muxo managed to gather lots of architects, engineers as well as contractors to plan for the very first design brainstorming session. This process was started in the next month itself. Time factor was really very important as a state-of-the-art arena was due by August 30, 1998, to host the next hockey season that was to be held in the year 1998.
The architects managed to complete seventy suites with the facility of wet bars, closed circuited monitors as well as leather upholstery. These suites are now the largest in the country to have these kind of facilities, averaging more than 650 square feet. The whole process involved more than 50 subcontractors as well as 2.3 million man hours, without a single injury.
