Even though La Crosse Center has more of a basement bar feel to it, it has big bands like Flyleaf from time to time. Regularly, the setting will have small groups from around town perform each weekend. While most of the time La Crosse Center has scheduled shows set up , the place does have a couple of open mic nights. The open mic for musicians is on Thursday and the one for standup comedians is on Saturday.
Originally known as The City, the club changed its name to La Crosse Center when Henry Pillar took over ownership in the 1970s. The owner used his favorite club when he studied for his undergraduate degree at at Purdue University as the inspiration for the layout of the bar he operates now. La Crosse Center has always been the nicest bar locally for concerts as well as to relax with a beer.
