TD Banknorth Garden is a sport arena located on 100 Legends Way, in Boston, called The Garden, and opened on September 30, 1995. The arena was constructed to replace the old Boston Garden. It is owned and operated by Delaware North Companies, designed by Ellerbe Becket, Inc. and the construction costs were $160 million. The arena has a capacity of 18,624 for basketball, 17,565 for ice hockey and the maximum capacity is 19,580.
On July 1, 2005, officially the arena became the TD Banknorth Garden. The arena had 33 different names, including the present name and it is home arena of the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics. It was the former home of the Boston Blazers and it will be home to the NLL’s new Boston Blazers in 2009. The 1999 and 2003 NCAA Division l Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds and also the 2006 Women’s Final Fou were hosted in the arena. Also TD Banknorth Garden hosts many non-sporting events. It was installed a new HD entertainment board and new video advertising panel in the arena before the 2006/07 season. The arena is built on top of Boston's North Station, which is a major transportation hub.
